In the year 2004 I obtained my PhD in Medicine and Surgery at the University Autonomous of Barcelona (UAB) with the Cum Laude qualification. I also received the extraordinary award from the Department of Pediatric, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Preventive Medicine and Public Health. Since then I have been participating in more than 38 research projects, 9 of them as Principal Investigator in the last 5 years. As a result of this research, I have published more than 163 peer-reviewed articles in international journals (H index 28), as well as many articles in national journals, 23 book chapters, and 4 patents, one is licensed and ended up in a the first commercialized IVD in endometrial cancer.
I have broad experience in clinical oncology as well as great deal of experience as coordinator of translational oncology projects. Currently, all the ongoing projects carry out by my research group are based on unmet clinical issues on gynecologic cancers of the endometrium, ovary, cervix and vulva; and on gynecologic benign pathologies, such as endometriosis; combining both basic and translational research. In addition, I am a member of the SEGO SPAIN-GOG network.
On the other hand, in relation to my academic profile, I have supervised or co-supervised 28 doctoral theses (14 completed and 14 in progress) and many other undergraduate and master's degree students who have obtained their degree after practicing in our group (GRB-G). I have also served on several thesis committees and I’m a reviewer for prestigious research journals. Regarding my teaching activity, I’m associate professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) since 2010 (with AQU and ANECA professor accreditation) and director of the Master's degree in Gynecology Endoscopy at the Vall d'Hebron / UAB Hospital since 2005.
Thanks to the commitment to carry out translational research, our results can be transferred from the laboratory to the patient, as is the case with GynEC-DX®, marketed by Reig Jofre since 2014 and CEMARK in development (PCT / EP2017 / 057635, EP17382483.0).
