Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology
Presentation
At the VHIO, doctors and scientists come together in multidisciplinary teams in order to provide improvements in the field of oncological diseases, and translate discoveries into medical benefits. More than 200 researchers and healthcare staff are dedicated to understanding the way cancer works, from biology and genetics to treatment.
Through translational research, knowledge resulting from research can be used to prevent and treat cancer. The symbiosis between VHIO and the hospital, this constant dialogue between patients and research, reduces the gap between laboratory results and patient care.
VHIO activity is divided into four main programmes: preclinical, translational, clinical and core technologies research; all focused on offering cancer patients less aggressive and more personalised treatments. Vall d’Hebron Campus has great potential, providing direct access to its whole range of oncology professionals and possible treatments.
The best professionals dedicated to addressing the many questions that remain unanswered in order to beat the multidimensional, heterogeneous and complex disease that is cancer.
