I am a postdoctoral researcher with great experience in the field of microbiology, particularly in the area of antimicrobial resistance and virulence in different pathogens. Recently I have also specialized in the area of sepsis and search of new biomarkers to allow an early diagnosis. Currently I take part in several research projects with the aim to contribute to the current biomedical knowledge to find a way to improve the quality of life of people.

Currículum

In 2016 I joined the research group on Microbiology at VHIR as a postdoctoral researcher. I take part on promoting research activities, supervising new master and doctoral students and giving support and advice on the analysis and interpretation of the results. Teaching activity I am currently teaching the subject of Microbiology in the degree of Medicina at the University of Vic (UVic-UCC) and in the degree of Podiatry (UManresa-UVic-UCC). I also teach classes at several master studies. Academic background My vocation to understand how life works drove me to start my formation in the area of Life Sciences: • Degree in Biology (2000/04), University of Barcelona • Degree in Biochemistry (2004/06), University of Barcelona • PhD (2005/10) in the Department of Microbiology at the Faculty of Medicine (University of Barcelona, Campus Clínic). During this period I carried out 3 International stages in outstanding research laboratories (Pasteur Institute, Paris, France / National Institutes of Health, Bethesda MD, USA). • First postdoctoral period (2012-2015) at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISglobal), Barcelona. • In 2016 I joined VHIR in my second postdoctoral period. Research In the group at VHIR I am involved in different research projects as the following: search of new sepsis biomarkers, molecular and epidemiological study of the etiological agent of whooping cough, study of the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance in several clinically relevant pathogens and their dissemination strategies.
